Title: Tales Of Destiny

Genre: RPG Number of players: 1 Memory space: 1 block
Release date: N/A Publisher: Namco Developer: Namco
Compatible peripherals: Standard controller

GRAPHICS: C- (7.25)
Please hear me out: The graphics are 2D sprites moving in a pretty 2D world BUT, that's the point... the old school RPG feel. With that said, let me just again say that the graphics aren't inspiring, but the details are all there. The facial expressions, multiple character moves, enemies... these are all designed well. And when travelling on the world map, you can tell it's a round world. The annoying things are the FMVs. They are almost non-existent and the cheap anime kind. But still, graphics isn't the point of this game at all.

MUSIC/SOUND: A- (9.25)
This is no Final Fantasy, but the music is varied and appropriate tothe fantasy genre. Every player has their own grunt-sound when hit orexecuting one of their many moves possible.

GAMEPLAY: A (9.75)
Classic RPG with great puzzles!!! You never get too far off base but the story has variations depending on what path you choose along the way. When you are stuck, someone out there has a clue for you. It is indeed an adventure. The battle mode is also incredibly interactive. Not only does each player have multiple moves and spells (and I mean a lot of them), each player can be controlled. There are a maximum of six characters for your party, four of which will fight, and about 10 characters to chose from after you are introduced to them. The story is enticing, plus NAMCO throws in a fake ending early in the game to throw you off a little... bastards.

"The battle mode is also incredibly interactive."

FUN AND REPLAY VALUE: A (9.5)
Incredible fun but not much for replay value. The puzzles are what makes the game and they get progessively harder. This is a truly enjoyable experience for the RPG fan, no doubt.

WORTH BUYING: YES
Just don't buy it in a cracked case like I did... the inside was smashed to plastic bits so I had to slowly blow the pieces off of my new game. Damn chinatown stores...

OVERALL: A (9.5)
Worth playing for all you RPG fans who get great self-satisfaction in cracking dungeon or castle puzzles. Real old school feel to it as well.
