OVERVIEW:

NFL Xtreme is a great game. You pick an NFL team, set up your rosters, and you go five-on-five all out WAR! The game uses the 98 seasons rosters. The most distinguished feature are the late-hits. Jersey Rip-offs! Taunts! LIGHTNING!!!! RIPPING OFF HELMETS!! YES!!!!!!!! No rules, and no refs. Now this ... is football!!

STORYLINE:

Its a sports game! IT HAS NO STORY LINE!!!!! But I love the objective. When your on offense, pummel the opposing five members into the ground while attempting to score! When your on defense, ATTACK!! ANNIHILATE!! DESTROY!!!! KILL, KILL, KILL!!!!!!!!!!!! God I love senseless gratuitous violence.

GRAPHICS:

Very good. A tad blocky, but good. Wouldn't call them amazing, but good. Animation is very smooth. The live action cutscenes are decent as well.

SOUND:

Very interesting. The players will shout at other players with phrases like: "That's what I'm talkin' about!", "This is MY house!", and "WELCOME TO THE NFL!!!". The music could be better, but its fine as it is. The SFX are well done, too. But as in all sports games, the most annoying feature? Of course, the announcer ... we always wanna kill the announcer. Oh well.

PLAYABILITY:

It will take you a while to get this game down. The controls are odd, and deciphering the plays requires some work. Working the rosters requires some skill as well. You can create your own free agent to play for your team of choice ... but working out his numbers is hard to figure out. The playability is the only let down in this game. (That, or the announcer.)

FUN/REPLAY VALUE:

HOURS AND HOURS AND HOURS ... of FUN!!!! This game just doesn't die! The senseless violence will keep you going for days! Prepare for fun, prepare for violence, and prepare yourself all around. The title doesn't lie, neither does the slogan. "NFL Xtreme", "After the coin toss... ANYTHING GOES!!!!!!"MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WORTH BUYING: YES

I personally may not like sports games, but my god! I love this game! If you love violence and/or sports games... GET IT!!!!!!

What a F***ing cool game. There is no way you can lose! Well, actually, yes there is. But that's beside the point. This game is for die-hard violence/football fans! This game goes to the e"Xtreme" and back!
