Title: Bloody Roar

Genre: Fighting Number of players: 1 or 2 Memory space: 1 block
Release date: 3/5/98 Publisher: Sony Developer: Hudson Soft
Compatible peripherals: Analog, Vibration, Standard controller, Arcade stick

A new fighting game, with a kick ass deal. Bloody Roar may not be a revolutionary game, but it is worth playing. In this game you have a pick of 8 fighters. Each fighter has been given the ability to "morph" into an animal. Your animals are anything from a tiger, a lion, a boar, a wolf, a jackal, a mole, an ape, and even a cute bunny! Each player is a competition to get a solitary wish from the forces of nature that gave them their powers if they can beat the evil demon who is stopping them from obtaining their wish.

GRAPHICS:

Graphics are somewhat something left to be desired. Not ground breaking but overall, they're decent. The FMV scenes are no FF7 but they are good enough. The fighting scene's backrounds are to flat for my liking but they are satisfactory. The fighters are blocky, but you get so involved in the fighting that you may not care. Many of the moves in this game (if pulled off properly) will make you cringe because they just look stunningly painful. The arena is blocked off with walls but with enough hard poundings of flying victims, it will break and a ring out ensues. To me, it appears that these people will die of simple blood loss considering how much blood is spewed from their body in this game.

SOUNDS:

The sound in music in this are a little off excellent and just a notch abovegood. The digital noises are pretty good, but some of the screams of pain will either annoy to the point where you turn off the game or they are so funny you roll over laughing. When playing with or against Alice, I STRONGLY recommend turning off your sound!

PLAYABILITY:

Controls are a little slow, and learning or teaching them is also a pain. It will take about 1 hour off practice to get a feel for the game. When you learn or fall subject to special moves, you will see brutalizing agony at its best. The special moves do require some time to master in battle but over all once you have it down, the game becomes oh-so-much easier.

OVERALL: (8.75)

A must for any fighting gamer. Its brutal moves, super beasts and flowing blood make this a must for any person who plays these games. While at first it may seem stupid, odd, and seemingly odd grapics, it ranks among my list as one of the best fighting games ever!
